Operated under grant funding from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, requiring regular check-ins and documenting contracted deliverables.
Created experimental and mixed methods research studies and designed complex surveys in Qualtrics to study behavior-change communication.
Analyzed quantitative and qualitative data using thematic coding and statistical inference methods such as content analysis, Chi-square, ANOVA, linear regression, and factor analysis in SPSS, STATA, and R.
Surveyed 1045 Florida Residents and 140 FWC officials on their understanding of and preference for 18 technical terms common in wildlife management communications.

Collected feedback and other information from zoo guests to evaluate world-renowned exhibits and inform brand strategies.
Developed and administered interviews and surveys to obtain in-depth qualitative and quantitative data.
Conducted flow tracking and shadowing of guests to record how exhibits are naturally used.
Analyzed data and organized responses into target audience groups to aid in effective marketing.
Produced reports and presentations to present findings in a usable format to internal and external stakeholders.

Senior thesis: The Effects of Invasive Akebia on Avian Abundance, Diversity, and Habitat Utilization in the Guilford College Woods, Greensboro, NC
Examined the effects of an invasive vine on bird populations in an Eastern woodland.
Involved developing experimental field design, avian point counts, vegetative surveys,
and data analysis.
Found that invasive Akebia cover reduced avian species richness and abundance but
increased the presence of birds on the ground level.
Researcher
Guilford College
January 2013 to May 2013
Surveyed turtle populations in the Guilford College Lake as part of a larger study on the impact of urbanization on turtle populations.
Conducted trap maintenance and collected and analyzed data.
Found a skewed gender ratio among the captured turtles, with more males than females consistent with past research on urban turtle populations.
Resulting independent paper awarded the 2013 Dean’s Award in Writing for the Physical and Natural Sciences.

Explored the consequences of land use changes on human-wildlife conflicts in the Amboseli area of Kenya.
Conducted qualitative interviews of residents using tract sampling methodology, communicating through social and language barriers.
Identified that while reported human-wildlife conflicts remained similar across land use types, agriculturalists reported higher damage from conflicts than pastoralists and lower approval of wildlife management organizations but held more positive attitudes toward wildlife.
